This architecturally unique, immaculately kept and gorgeously decorated lodge is honestly one of the most exquisite places I have ever stayed at.

The lodge is so well thought out as owners carefully crafted every aspect as this stunning lodge. Each item has been carefully placed with purpose and thought, hand picked and selected with true intent. The building (which Christa and her brother) added to, have used the space cleverly to ensure optimised use of the area and views surrounding the lodge. I loved that the building was natural in its look, yet still elegant a beautiful. I heard a saying years ago, “style does not shout” and I keep being reminded on this when thinking of Christiana Lodge.

From the moment you walk in, there is a level of excellence that is apparent. The parking, the entrance way, the breakfast rooms and finally the guest rooms are all absolutely remarkable in their layout, furnishings and decor elements. I loved that Christa shopped locally and internationally when decorating but there is a distinct feel right through the entire lodge and that is poise. From each item of linen to the crownings on the taps, the soap (which is so luxurious in itself), the furniture, layout and styling throughout – you know that this is a place of real luxury and sophistication.

For the frequent traveller, Christiana Lodge is a must. Of course you will not want to leave once you arrive but with the rise of remote working, being able to work and stay anywhere make extended stays worthwhile and this is something very popular that the lodge can cater to. For the local tourists, you really don’t need to go far to find beauty and something unique and for the overseas guest, this is truly a wonderful representation of the South African hospitality.

Honestly, it was incredibly hard to leave as the level of care and excellence is unmatched. There are stunning views from multiple angels of the lodge but of course the favourite is from the main breakfast room which overlooks the Robberg mountain areas. Which brings me to my next best favourite and that is breakfast. This is no ordinary breakfast as you can actually order from a set menu each morning. This was a
first to me, usually the breakfasts are the same but here we could order off a menu with multiple offerings (over and above the cold breakfast section which was ready and waiting for each guest as they arrived). This was really special to me as it made the experience unique and again reinforced the level of excellence Christiana Lodge holds itself to.

As we visited just after winter we did not make use of the pool and deck area however, I am sure this is a treat for sure on those balmy summer days and nights in Plett – a very popular holiday destination.
