Hi my name is A’Lisha Fourie, I am the hospitality manager of Longhill Lodge. I have been here for 5 months now, and I actually moved careers from education to tourism. I love working with people and animals, and at Longhill reserve, I get the chance to meet such a wide variety of cultures from all over the world. So for me personally, this is the best of both worlds.

What’s the best part of your job? : Meeting different people and hearing all their stories, watching the wildlife exist in nature and getting such a deep insight and respect for their intelligence.

What are your hobbies? : I love winding down and reading a book. Also spending every possible second with my two amazing dogs.

Do you have a favourite food? : Chinese food all the way.

What is your 5 year goal? : Life has taught me to not be set on my own ideas, everything can change in a second. So my only goal would be to be the best person I can possibly be, and learn to adapt to new circumstances with gratefulness that I am gifted with so many experiences in my life.

What changes are you making at Longhill Lodge? :

I have moved us from a self catering lodge to catered. Helped with the new lodge kitchen. I do all the cooking on the reserve. Brought in necessary check lists and steps to ensure our staff gives you the best experience possible. Made valuable connections with tour operators to ensure continued contracts. Hired amazing staff with an unimaginable work ethic. Assisted in improving our gardens. Brought a lot of organization to our elements.

Our goal here at Longhill is to make it the best place to visit where you feel at home and leave happier. It is hard to put all the hard work that has been put in by all staff members in a few sentences. To end this, all we can say is, we have been blessed with amazing people and opportunities that made growth an easy task. This life get’s extremely busy and off days are scarce, but we would not choose to do anything else. Our hearts are made to be in the bush surrounded by people.
