Hi my name is Axel Primmer, I am the new reserve manager for Longhill Lodge, and I’ve been here for 6 months now. I have extensive experience in Game reserve management with my career going on 10 years. My passion for animals and the bush is easily visible when you visit us. I love working with different types of flora and gaining more knowledge about the different types of bush our beautiful country offers. Game reserve management is such a wild combination of different components and I have never regret one second of my career.

Tell us more about the best part of your job? : Spending everyday with my passionate working dogs, they make life and all experiences better, and also experiencing the new life that is born on the reserve.

Any hobbies? : I love fishing

Do you have a favourite food? : If it has sugar in it, or can be put on a braai, I’m first in line.

Axel what is your 5 year goal? : To move up in this industry, and become the best game reserve manager I could possibly be.

What changes are you making to Longhill Lodge? : Since I have been here, we have installed a fully electrical fence, which provides top of the range security for our animals and guest. We have constructed a new lodge kitchen to offer breakfast to all guest. Revived the garden to it’s full glory and have managed to grow grass on various locations to feed our animals. We can now offer a wide variety of activities due to relationships made with several neighbouring reserves, as well as our own reserve. I have employed a highly qualified guide and made sure all our vehicles are in pristine condition to ensure safety.

Tell us more about the game drives that you offer:

We offer a half day and fully day trips to Addo National Park. On our game drives, we ensure that you have the best experience to see as many animals possible . All our guests love the Addo National Park, and are always happy and safe on our open vehicles, come sun shine or rain, they always have the best time.

We also offer Schotia Big 5 safaris, where you can view the Big 5 in the comfort of our vehicles, enjoy a mid drive snack ( which is the best carrot cake you will ever eat) and end the day with an amazing dinner and live music from the Schotia team. Truly a memorable evening for all.

On Longhill we offer game drives and bush walks. We take you to see our Blue Cycads which is a walking path only, we try get as close to animals as we can while respecting them and ensuring your safety. You get to view our amazing fauna and flora and the company of our experienced and energetic guides.

No matter which drive we do, we always strive to give you the best experience possible and absolute value for money. It’s truly a blessing to work in an industry as versatile as this.
