Pure Sea has been birthed from two hearts whose inspired by life and its challenges to make and share new rituals to benefit a healthier lifestyle. After a period of illness, owners Bjorn and Annick were led to the mythically beautiful Walker Bay, where the tides of nature provided a necessary space of healing space. Knowing their journey was not a unique one, Pure Sea became a dream – with the vision to curate a place where others could reconnect with nature.

Then the natural environment with lush fynbos and kilometers of ocean view helps set the scene to open your spirit to the ancestral energy of the sea and the wind. Expect to meet the resident zebra, springbok and bontebok that gently grace the bush. Healthy breakfast options combined with classic breakfast options and locally sourced restorative ingredients populate the menu.

We have chosen a design that is inspired by both biophilic and wabi-sabi styles.

Biophilic design is more than simply a love for nature, it’s a celebration of its healing potential. It has influenced modern design by promoting design with natural materials such as wood, stone, coco and rattan, as well as natural fabrics.

The idea is to bring nature into our living spaces: plenty of natural light, spaces that open the outdoors, oversized windows, and an abundance of plants. In an increasingly urbanized world, a biophilic design helps reduce stress and stimulate creativity.

Borrowing from traditional Japanese aesthetics, wabi-sabi is a philosophy centred around the acceptance of imperfection and transience. The aesthetic embraces asymmetry, roughness, simplicity, economy, austerity, modesty, intimacy, and the appreciation of both natural objects and the forces of nature.
